Preliminary Program Now Available

28 February 2019

We are pleased to announce that the preliminary program for NECMT 2019 is now available. This year's program is particularly exciting, as it includes scholars from four states—three of which are outside of New England—and three Canadian provinces. Local arrangements information and details about conference events will be available soon. The final program, complete with abstracts, will be available here as the conference approaches. We look forward to seeing you in Montreal!

An Invitation from Ed Gollin, President

Dear Colleagues,

After a very successful meeting at Brandeis this past spring, NECMT is heading north for its first-ever meeting in Canada! McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, has very generously offered to be the host institution for our thirty-fourth annual meeting in its newly renovated auditorium, on April 13–14, 2019. Note that these dates fall on a Saturday and Sunday (a departure from our usual Friday–Saturday schedule) to allow for people to travel to and from the conference more easily. Keep an eye out for local arrangements information on our website.

Proposals on any theoretical and analytical topic are welcome; papers on traditionally under-represented repertories (including jazz and world musics) are especially encouraged. The Call for Papers provides details on how to submit a proposal; proposals must be in electronic format. The Program Committee this year comprises Nicole Biamonte (McGill), chair, Catherine Nolan (University of Western Ontario), Jason Hooper (UMass Amherst), and Will Mason (Wheaton College). This year's meeting will continue to invite both traditional format talks and lightning talks. Please consider submitting a proposal, or encouraging your graduate students to submit a proposal. Note that all proposals are due by January 21, 2019.

Keep an eye out in the new year for more details about special events at the conference, and we look forward to you joining us in Montreal.

Sincerely,
Ed Gollin
President, NECMT
